Whats in Store at Burberry Prorsum for Spring 2010

The infamous trench was ever present in the show - in neutral colors such as beige and trendy colors such as metallic. Pastels were a major underlying theme as well down the runway (as is in many other designer's shows) Soft pinks, and blues, and yellows, and golds, and grays were all shown in a variety of dresses, skirts, jackets, and tops. All with fabulous drapping and structure. The hip cinching and flattering belt is continuing to become a great asset to anyone's wardrobe.

I think there is a lot of investments pieces to be observed from this show. If you don't already own a fabulous beige or light grey trenchcoat, the time is now! Put away those black and fur winter coats and buy a lightweight trench. The colors are also something to notice, for it seems pastels are something to really look forward to. I know I have always been a fan of them. Everyone from the high end designers such as Burberry all the way down to the retail brands like a JCrew are showing a great amount of pastel - from the clothes to the shoes to the amazing jewelry. Owning a few metallic pieces are great as well - it is just going to show how the "futuristic theme" is complimenting the soft color palette quite nicely. Drapery was also something that was used throughout the show - mainly at the hems of the skirts and dress. Be careful though, you don't want to look look wide!

It seemed as if the inspiration for the Burberry show came from an array of pretty spring flowers with a touch of sunshine and sparkle.

I know you will love my favs...

Abasking in style with Anthropologie dresses

I love Anthropologie so much that I have chosen to do separate blogs on different items of clothing. Since the "dresses tab" is the first one on the website, I have decided to talk about them one first. To be honest, I have always had a dream to work for Anthropologie. Although, it is not particularly directed toward my age group - I always enjoy looking at how the store is laid out. I often find myself going to the Anthropologie store to browse through the intricate and artisitic displays of the many items of clothing they sell. The company's ideology in general really yearns to hire employees with a creative edge that will make each and every store unique. No two stores are alike.

So lets start with the dresses. Of course, I immediately am drawn to the solid dress with intricate detail. I mostly like the different shapes of the dresses that I feel would be most flattering or most versatile to accessorize in different ways.
Take this dress for an example, so simple yet so versatile. This dress can be worn for many occasions. Wear with a brown belt and gladiator flats. If the weather is cold, layer on a crisp brown or navy jacket - perhaps add on a colorful scarf or a sparkly statement necklace. The dress can be worn by itself with a pretty hair adornment or floral headband.

After a 3 month hiatus, GOSSIP GIRL IS BACK!

The hottest and most fashionable shows on TV came back this past Monday! Gossip girl is the one and only show I follow not only for the storyline, but of course for the amazing fashion! What did you guys think of the last episode? Some hits and misses?

Lets start with Serena...I really loved the opening outfit. Her blonde hair, blues eyes, and fair skin goes great with the light grey Phillip Lim coat. I also really thought the plaid tights and thigh high boots were flattering to her long lean legs.

Olsens in 2010

Ever since I can remember, I loved watching Ashley Olsen emerge into a style icon. Growing up watching Full House to Two-of-a-Kind to So Little Time to all of their direct to video movies, I looked up to what the twins would wear. Encompassing a style that would frequently change, Ashley Olsen has certainly grown into her own. It is refreshing to see the difference in style that she has against her sister. Ashley Olsen knows what she likes and has an eye for future trends, making her standout above most other celebrity fashionistas. I would describe Ashley's signature style as class yet sophisticated - with a little bit of edge.

In 2010, Ashley seems to be making an investment in a variety of statement coats and jackets for outwear.

The girls have also made many appearances on the red carpet this year, doting a variety of beautiful dresses and separates.

Here they are launching their new line for JCPenny. I will forever love the black on black leggings/tights with the black heels (creates length as is also very slimming). Mary-Kate took an oversize black blazer and belted it. Ashley shortened a navy Jill Sander cargo dress and layered it with a sheer long-sleeve blouse underneath.

Valentino Offers the Key Essentials for Fall 2010

When I think of Valentino, I often think of extravagant floor-length dresses to be seen only on the chosen ones on the red carpet at the Oscars. While the designer did leave a select few floor-length dress during the end of the show, it was a pleasant surprise to see a wide variety of cocktail dresses, jackets, coats, and pants. All encompassed with hints of fur, lace, ruffles, and embroidery - the four essential accents for the Fall 2010 season.

I feel that the show offered a defiant ready-to-wear collection for its audience. From day-wear to night-wear, there was certainly an outfit for the typical occasions a girl encounters in her life...(From work - to a stroll down Madison Ave - to a Friday night dinner with girlfriends - to an extravagant formal event)

As always, I particularly enjoyed the color-palette the designer implemented. The consistent fractions of white to black to beige to red - was easy to follow and understand. It was apparent that the designer would encourage the Valentino customer to buy a crisp and classic dress full of structured ruffles, a playful dress full of ruffles or lace, a solid beige jacket to wear with a pant suit or a dress, and perhaps invest in a full fur coat if the weather ensues.

Enjoy!

A sheer touch of grace....Alberta Ferretti Sping 2010

Lets rewind a few months to last September, when the runways showcased what to look forward to in the Spring! I seems that the groundhog had indeed saw his shadow, for we have had a prolong and frigid winter season. Can we all agree, that once the Christmas tree has been thrown away - its officially time to start dreaming about some beach some where?

While it may be easy to figure out by now, what kind of style I have, Alberta Ferretti's Spring 2010 show truly embodies everything I am looking forward to in the Spring. I am a person whose style changes as I get older (it's always hard for me to believe what I wore 5 years ago), but I truly am in love with the literal sheer genius of Alberta's fabulous warm-toned dresses. The use of of ivory, light peaches, pale pinks, faded yellows, and warm purples were shown to make a strong statement for Spring ready-to-wear. It was apparent that if a woman is in search of a feminine chiffon dress - with perhaps a hint of floral embroidery or sparkle - should find inspiration from this collection. Despite the consistent message that is "the chiffon dress" in this collection, the versatile colors would enthrall the consumer to buy a few of these dresses in different shades of colors. Timeless dresses such as these, fare better in both the Winter and Spring seasons...afterall it is all about the accessorizing BUT I like my clothes to speak for themselves.
